Hosted by FlashAcademy® and led by Head of EAL at HELP International School, Sharmilla Narkiran, this session will explore practical, classroom-ready approaches that help multilingual learners access lesson content and participate with confidence. The session will look at who multilingual learners are, the strengths they bring and the common challenges they may face in mainstream lessons.
Drawing on classroom experience, Sharmilla will discuss the role of translanguaging, the importance of cultural and linguistic identity and a range of strategies that make learning more accessible. These include vocabulary preparation, scaffolding, structured talk routines, writing support and assessment adaptations, alongside ways to involve families and value home languages.
Attendees will gain clear, actionable ideas to support multilingual learners in everyday teaching and to build a more inclusive learning environment.
This is a recording of a live webinar.
This event is aimed at both primary and secondary school teachers working with EAL and multilingual learners, SLT, inclusion leads and EAL leads. It is applicable for those in the UK or internationally.
